Bancontact is a payment system from Belgium that allows customers to make secure, contactless payments online and at the point of sale using their bank card or smartphone.
In the 1980s, Bancontact was one of the first electronic payment methods in Belgium. Today, it is the most widely used payment system in the country. Bancontact is also used by customers in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France. Additionally, international purchases can be made with Bancontact, which makes offering this payment method attractive for merchants from other countries as well.

Transaction limits
The following amount limits apply to transactions made with Bancontact:
- Minimum amount: EUR 0.50 per transaction
- Maximum amount: EUR 30,000.00 per transaction
Setup
To receive payments via Bancontact, you simply need to activate the payment method in your zahls.ch account. Follow these steps:

Navigate to Payment Providers in the main menu of your dashboard.

Click on "Configure" next to Payrexx Pay Plus.

Scroll down a bit and check the box next to "Bancontact".

Complete the configuration by clicking "Save" at the bottom right of the page.
Payment with Bancontact From The Customer's Perspective
In this section, you will learn how a payment with Bancontact works.

The customer fills in the required fields and selects the payment method "Bancontact".

The customer provides their email address and the name associated with their bank account, then clicks the green "Pay" button.

zahls.ch redirects the customer to the Bancontact website. The customer has two options there:

Scanning the displayed QR code using the Bancontact app and completing the payment

Paying with the Bancontact card
