With the Crypto payment method, you can accept customer payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Polygon. Transactions are processed via the blockchain and paid out in your local currency.

General Information

With the payment method Crypto, you can accept customer payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Polygon. Transactions are processed via the blockchain and paid out to your bank account in your local currency (e.g., CHF).

As a merchant, you do not need any knowledge of blockchain or cryptocurrencies, as payments are automatically processed in the background.

Prerequisites

To accept crypto payments, merchants must meet the following requirements:

  • The merchant is based in 🇨🇭 Switzerland.
  • The merchant has a commercial register entry or a Business Identification Number (UID).
  • The merchant has a verified zahls.ch account.
  • The payment provider Payrexx Pay is enabled.
  • The currency CHF is enabled.

The transaction fees vary depending on the zahls.ch plan you choose. For more information, please refer to our pricing overview.

Setup

To accept payments via Crypto, you must first request and then activate the payment method in your zahls.ch account. Please follow the steps below.

Requesting the payment method

  • Navigate to Payment Providers in the main menu of your merchant administration.
  • Click on "Configure" next to Payrexx Pay.
  • Scroll down to the section Request New Payment Methods.
  • Check the box for Crypto and click Apply.

Activating the payment method

Once Crypto has been set up for you, you only need to activate the payment method in your zahls.ch account. To do so, please follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Payment Providers in the main menu of your merchant administration.
  • Click on "Configure" next to Payrexx Pay.
  • Scroll down and check the box for Crypto.
  • Complete the configuration by clicking "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

Payment with Crypto from the customer's perspective

  • At checkout, the customer selects Crypto as the payment method.
  • The customer enters their personal information – in the example below, the email address – and clicks "Pay".
  • The customer selects the network they want to use for payment:
    • Bitcoin BTC network for payments in Bitcoin
    • Tether USDT network for payments in Ethereum and Polygon
  • The customer enters their personal information, accepts the terms of service, and clicks "Continue".
  • Finally, the customer scans the displayed QR code and completes the payment on their smartphone.
